As a security measure for unattended machines, Enterprise 6 contains a screen saver. Screen saver mode can be entered either by leaving Enterprise 6 inactive for a set period of time or by double-clicking the large button on the far left of the Volumes palette containing the Enterprise 6 logo and current volume name. The length of the period of inactivity is set using the ‘Screen Saver after x minutes’ setting, which can be found on the General page of Preferences. When you need to start work again, any click or keystroke closes the screen saver. If you would like a member of Personnel to enter their User ID to clear the Screen Saver, switch on the ‘Confirm User Id after Screen Saver’ check box on the Access Rights screen of that person’s Personnel record.
The screen saver takes the form of a number of Enterprise 6 splash screens (one for each of the volumes to which you have access) which are placed on screen in turn. A sample is shown below.
While Enterprise 6 is in the background (with another application in use in front of it), the screen saver timer is still operational and Enterprise 6 will still go into screen saver mode after the appropriate period of inactivity. However, in this situation the screen saver screens are not used.
