Sets Functions are accessed by Alt-clicking on the Data List Manager/Sets Functions button or by Alt-selecting Data Lists in Find/More Choices/Functions.
Saving a Set causes a small file to be saved on your computer. This contains the system-generated references of the records that you have saved and allows you to reload them later. This feature can be very useful when doing complex searches.
There is one thing to be aware of when saving Sets: if one of the records in your Set is deleted, it is possible for that record number to be reused by the system, so that your Set loaded later can contain a new record. Actually this is fairly unlikely since records an most of the major tables are only 'soft deleted' - in other words are marked as deleted, but still exist, and will still appear in your set. Nonetheless this factor needs to be borne in mind when you use Sets.
This function lets you work with a Set you have already saved. Selecting one of the options below will compare it to the current set. If you do not choose one of those options, then the set will be loaded as the current selection. The 'current selection' is the list of records appearing in your Daybook listing window, the result of whatever search you have done.
This option adds your Set to the current selection and displays the resulting records in your listing window as a new current selection.
This option finds the records which are common to both your Set and the current selection and displays the resulting records in your listing window as a new current selection.
This option removes from your Set the current selection and displays the resulting records in your listing window as a new current selection.
This option removes the current selection from your Set and displays the resulting records in your listing window as a new current selection.
This option lets you save the current selection to a local disk as a Set, for use later.
