The ruler lets you position the left margin, right margin and first line indentation for the currently selected paragraphs.
On the ruler, black triangles mark the left and right margins ( and ). A small arrow called the First Line Indent marker ( ) indicates where the first line of paragraph begins.
When you open a new document, the margins are preset to the width of a standard 8.5 inch page. You can change the location of the left margin, right margin and first line indentation by dragging their markers to the left or right. All three markers move independently and you can position the left or right margins to within an inch apart.
NOTE: You can change the default margins and first line indentation using the Customiser Plus utility.

To set the left or right margin, drag the Left ( ) or Right ( ) Margin marker. You can display margin guides to help you align margins by choosing 'Show Margins' from the Word Processor's Format menu.
Dotted lines show the location of the left and right margins. Margin guides do not appear when you print the document.
NOTE: If the first line indentation is positioned to the left of the Left Margin marker, the left margin guide shows the position of the first line indentation.
To set the first line indentation, drag the First Line Indent marker ( ).
